Vaisakhi
Statement from Premier Pillai on Vaisakhi
The Government of Yukon celebrates Vaisakhi, which commemorates the 1699 establishment of the Khalsa - the collective name given to baptised Sikhs - by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This important Sikh holiday is observed through various traditions and festivities that honor the rich history and culture of the Sikh community.
Vaisakhi is a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity within the Sikh community and beyond. It is a reminder of the values of equality, justice, and selfless service that are central to the Sikh faith. As we come together to celebrate Vaisakhi, let us embrace these values and continue to work towards a more inclusive and harmonious society for all.
