Gilas mission: Bring home gold

Only 10 players from the 28-man pool attended Gilas’ first practice since the end of the PBA Governors Cup but coach Chot Reyes stayed upbeat throughout the two-hour early evening workout at the Meralco Gym last Wednesday. The team got a boost when SBP.

The competition

The Southeast Asian Games is a multi-sport event held every two years among athletes from Southeast Asian countries. The 2019 edition will be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11. The Philippines has been a dominant force in the games, winning the overall championship 19 times.

Medal hopes

Gilas Pilipinas, the Philippines’ men’s national basketball team, is one of the favorites to win a gold medal in the basketball tournament. The team is composed of some of the best players in the country and is expected to dominate the competition. Other sports where the Philippines is expected to do well include boxing, athletics, and swimming.
