Premier League scores and news live: Latest Newcastle, Chelsea ...
Manchester City midfielder Rodri says every game until the end of the season will be “like a final” as his side bid to repeat the treble.
City trail Arsenal and Liverpool by a point in the Premier League title race, with a crunch home game against the former tomorrow.
Pep Guardiola’s side also have a Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid on the horizon, as well as an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
City won all three of those competitions last season as they completed a momentous treble, the first in their history.
“I’m not saying it’s going to be decisive,” Rodri said about tomorrow’s game against Arsenal, “but it will be very important for our confidence, and we will show them that we are here again.
“It’s not just this game that’s like a final, it’s all of them from now until the end of the season.
“We’re still in every competition, but any game that you lose can practically leave you out of the running.
“That’s the level that this league demands from you, to reach between 90 and 100 points to be able to win the league.
“So, we have to win practically every game and that starts against Arsenal, who are currently the league leaders.”
City have at least 13 matches remaining this season, with 10 in the Premier League, both legs of their Champions League quarter-final and that FA Cup semi-final. That could rise to as many as 17 if they reach the finals of both cup competitions.
