NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER gets 24 and 26 Gbps memory mods
Brazilian modders are back at it again.
Recently, a small competition took place in Brazil between the Paulo Gomes and TecLab teams. The former is known for various GPU repairs, often featuring non-standard memory mods, while the latter is an overclocking team renowned for numerous world records. What may not be commonly known is that each team also works for graphics card companies, with Paulo Gomes for Manli and TecLab for GALAX.
The competition involved equipping the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER with faster memory and overclocking it to its limits. This new NVIDIA GPU comes with 21 Gbps memory out of the box, which is not the fastest on the market (the RTX 4080 SUPER currently features 22.4 Gbps memory). Both teams decided it would be interesting to replace the memory on the 4070 Ti SUPER with faster memory and see the results.

The Paulo Gomes team managed to overclock the memory to 24 Gbps, resulting in 8870 points in the Superposition 8K benchmark, matching the score of the RTX 4080. The TecLab team had more success, exceeding 26 Gbps, making it even faster. Here are the respective scores:
Superposition 8K benchmark results
- GeForce RTX 4080 Stock ➡️ 8525 points
- MANLI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER/Paulo Gomes Stock ➡️ 7212 points
- MANLI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER/Paulo Gomes GPU OC & 24 Gbps memory ➡️ 8870 points
- GALAX RTX 4070 Ti SUPER/TecLab Stock ➡️ 7028 points
- GALAX RTX 4070 Ti SUPER/TecLab GPU OC & 26 Gbps memory ➡️ 9133 points

It’s worth noting that the memory change is not just a simple physical replacement but also a modification to the board itself. Each GPU has to be configured to support faster memory through straps. While both teams have access to this information, making it relatively straightforward for them, it is not something just anyone can do.
Additionally, both cards were tested with their stock coolers (a triple-fan solution), and no exotic cooling was used. This shows that the graphics cards can handle the faster memory with their standard cooling solutions.
According to rumors, the next-gen GPUs from the GeForce RTX 50 series are expected to feature faster memory, going up to 28 Gbps, thanks to the newer GDDR7 technology. Such tests only show that the memory upgrade alone will contribute to higher performance with new generation of gaming GPUs.
You can see the whole process of modifying RTX 4070 Ti SUPER to 24/26 Gbps memory in the following videos, just make sure to enable captions if you do not know Portuguese.
