Netflix Speed Index shows higher average in March

Eighty-four per cent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) stayed the same and 15 per cent increased 0.2 Mbps, resulting in a higher average speed in March 2024 on the Netflix ISP Speed Index – a monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience. Netflix notes that these speed are considered normal moves as the company rolls out new encodes and titles. 

Thirty-six countries and regions were in the top performance tier for March: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay all registered an average speed of 3.0 Mbps.

There were no significant ISP gains or notable changes to country averages in March. However, five ISPs saw noticeable drops since February’s results. Viettel in Vietnam decreased from 2.8 to 2.6 Mbps, and Zajil Telecom in Kuwait dropped from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps. Zajil Telecom in Kuwait fell from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbps, and Reytel in Honduras dropped from 2.2 to 2.0 Mbps. Saigontourist Cable Television in Vietnam fell from 2.6 to 2.0 Mbps. In Japan, Chubu Telecommunications is now named Commufa Hikari.
