Meet The Mini Cooper Electric Classic: The Entry Level Model Looks Sharp
The entry-level Cooper Electric produces 184 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from rest to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds, which is quick for a small electric commuter.
It should be fun in the corners, with direct and responsive steering. Mini says handling has been improved thanks to the increased track width and the longer wheelbase. Coupled with the instant response from the electric motors, the Cooper E provides the go-kart feeling associated with Minis.
The 40.7-kWh battery provides a range of up to 190 miles on the WLTP test cycle and can be charged from 10-80% in just 28 minutes when plugged into a DC charger.
Mini has not said yet whether the entry-level Cooper Electric will arrive in America, but we expect it to. The gasoline-engined Mini Cooper was recently revealed if you prefer your Minis with ICE-powered propulsion.
