Mbappe has 'agreed' to leave PSG for Real Madrid in a deal worth £40m per year
Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer in the summer, according to reports.
The Spanish giants have not been shy in their pursuit of the French superstar, bidding a reported £170m to sign him last summer.
This is despite the 23-year-old being available on a free transfer in July after his PSG contract expires.
How did Man Utd ‘fail’ in January transfer window?
However, despite no transfer fee being involved, Madrid will still have to pay Mbappe around £200m in wages, with BILD (via the Mirror) claiming the player has accepted a five-year contract worth £40m-a-year to become a Galactico.
This comes shortly after it was reported that Mbappe opened’ talks’ with his current employers over a new deal.
Real forward and Mbappe’s France team-mate Karim Benzema discussed the possibility of playing with the PSG man in the Spanish capital in 2022/23.
Benzema said in October last year: “I enjoy with him in the national team and in the future, why not? He is a great player, but you have to respect PSG. I have always said it and I say it again; I hope we will play some day.”
Real Madrid and PSG face off in the last 16 of the Champions League, in what promises to be a tasty affair.
Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was pictured training with his new Barcelona team-mates ahead of the official announcement of his free transfer from Arsenal.
The 32-year-old former Gunners captain arrived in Spain on Monday morning, sparking rumours of a loan move to the LaLiga side although confusion reigned as no agreement had been reached as deadline day drew on.
The PA news agency understands that talks progressed during Monday and Aubameyang is set to complete a free transfer to Barcelona, although the deal had still not been formally announced by either club by Tuesday afternoon.
The make-up of the deal, which essentially saw Aubameyang released from his £250,000-a-week basic salary at the Emirates Stadium, means he can join the Catalan giants outside of the transfer window.
