Manchester United vs Burnley LIVE: Updates, score, analysis ...

Manchester United’s harrowing run-in continues Saturday when newly-hopeful Burnley visit Old Trafford.
The Red Devils beat Sheffield United 4-2 at midweek to reclaim favorites’ status for sixth-place on the Premier League table, but did not inspire loads of confidence with their performance against the 20th-place side.
Man United are three points clear of Newcastle, five ahead of West Ham, and six past Chelsea, and control their own top-six destiny.

Burnley’s last match was also against Sheffield United, and their 4-1 win was more comfortable.
Vincent Kompany’s Clarets moved three points back of Nottingham Forest and two behind 18th-place Luton Town in the fight for safety, which is likely down to those three teams for one spot in the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Burnley have Newcastle and Spurs before finishing with a visit from Forest, and will want at least one upset from that bunch to go into Week 38 with real hope.

HALFTIME: Manchester United 0-0 Burnley - Scoreless despite loads of chances for both sides
Manchester United were in control for much of the first half, as they took 10 straight shots in the opening 25 minutes and looked certain to score any minute now; Burnley couldn’t get the ball out of their own half and Man United kept pressing and winning the ball back, but the Red Devils were wasteful and put just two on target.
Then, a big swing in momentum around the 25th minute, and suddenly Burnley were finding the out-balls they needed to launch counter-attacks. It was everything Erik ten Hag hoped to avoid with a midfield and defensive spine comprised of Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo protecting Casemiro and Harry Maguire at center back. Andre Onana was up to the task, though, making three increasingly impressive saves as the first half drew to a close. It’s wide open, and either side could score three in the second half.
