Lazio Sporting Director on Luis Alberto Drama & Felipe Anderson Offer
Lazio sporting director Angelo Mariano Fabiani opened up about the unexpected Luis Alberto situation and the latest offer to Juventus target Felipe Anderson.
Luis Alberto, who has often been at the centre of controversy in the Italian capital, again sparked drama this week after publicly stating his intentions to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, something Claudio Lotito made clear wouldn’t happen without a buying club.
In the meantime, Felipe Anderson is seemingly only a step away from joining Juventus on a free transfer, with recent media reports stating that the contracts had already been agreed and were now in the process of being finalised ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Lazio’s media department (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), sporting director Fabiani first reacted to the Luis Alberto situation.
These things have been happening since football has existed, perhaps it was the least suitable evening. I can’t be in the brain of a player.
Some time ago, with the arrival of Tudor, he told me that at the end of the year he would probably prefer to change his shirt for a series of reasons that I won’t say here, I told him: ‘look, we have a duty to finish the season in the best possible way. After that we will evaluate all the positions’.
Nobody promised or signed anything. In the summer his contract was renewed for four years. There was a moment of decline, reaching the point that he didn’t even want to go to training camp with the team.
There was my mediation with president Lotito, we reached the conclusion of signing this contract under the conditions of his entourage. After six months, ‘I leave all the money to Lazio’. Contracts are made to be respected, on both sides. It is a situation that must be explored calmly and serenely.
He was asked how the situation would conclude.
It won’t go unnoticed in the eyes of the club, that’s clear. ‘Every now and then, the king’s groom needs to be allowed a few tantrums’. We won’t start war with anyone, we’re for peace, but we won’t accept compromises of any kind.
I don’t know what could have happened six months after the renewal, now I will talk to him. His statement was out of time, out of place. We will listen to his reasons and carefully understand how to proceed.
Fabiani also commented on the status of various contract talks, including with Felipe Anderson.
We are moving forward. We have already done Patric, Provedel. We often speak with Felipe Anderson’s entourage, we made him a five-year offer, also dictated by the fact that we are dealing with a true professional, a boy who can play for many more years.
This means that the ownership believes. These are not insignificant figures, he would be the third highest in the squad who receives important figures. The club’s will is all there, then we will also deal with the Zaccagni issue.
We will try to meet the boy’s needs. He has proven to make a significant contribution to Lazio. However, there must be the will on the other side. If they offer him €50 million, you have to raise your hands.
