“I’m really happy with the performance. I’m proud of the mentality we showed against an incredibly good opponent. I thought a few things towards were on a different level – our counter-press was absolutely outstanding.
“They scored so we had to increase the pressure, which we did. It’s obviously not the result we wanted, but it was the performance I wanted so from that point of view I’m fine.
“We said before the game that we have to shoot – the box will be full so we need to give the deflection a chance. We had a few unlucky moments or were not precise enough, these kinds of things.
“It’s incredibly difficult to play against an opponent with world-class players and a world-class manager who have a full week to prepare. But I’m fine with the performance and we will keep going. The dressing-room is not flying at this moment. But come on, it was always clear that something like this might happen.
“With all the praise for Tottenham, they are a world-class team, they sit back… they drew against us, they won against City I think and… against Chelsea as well? [Spurs actually lost to Chelsea]. Their gameplan works for these games but they are still fifth. It’s really a tough one. They tried everything: timewasting, these kinds of things. It’s smart, but it makes it not easy for us.
“We have a point, that’s a positive thing. We wanted three; that’s not so cool.”
