Luis Enrique Unveils PSG's Key to Overcoming Barcelona in Second Leg
Paris Saint-Germain aim to turn around the 3-2 aggregate situation in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie against Barcelona. The capital club had a few minutes of brilliance, but overall it was a disappointing performance.
Manager Luis Enrique had a hand in the sluggish contest due to the starting 11 that he decided to go with, leaving Warren Zaire-Emery and Bradley Barcola on the bench.
Nonetheless, to advance to the semifinal, the Spanish tactician will have to devise another game plan. Ahead of the second leg against PSG, Enrique spoke with reporters and revealed what he feels is key for the team to do to advance past the La Liga team.
“We need to change; it’s going to be tough,” Enrique told reporters (h/t Paris Fans). “We want to play our game, under pressure. Barcelona can resort to long balls to Lewandowski and put us under pressure.
“It’s up to us to handle it to create chances. I believe the match will be similar, with goals from both sides. We’re down by one goal, but I hope the urgency will make the match exciting for the fans.”
It will be interesting to see if Enrique’s different approach to this contest tilts the matchup in PSG’s favor to allow them to advance. If the Parisians crash out in the quarterfinals it will be disappointing considering the route they had to the final.
