April 16, 2022 at 1:29 PM EDT
Goodbye! Thanks for joining me as Liverpool booked their place in the FA Cup final next month, where they await the winner of Chelsea vs Crystal Palace tomorrow.
There's no time to rest however, as the Reds await the visit of arch-rivals Manchester United on Tuesday, while City look forward to welcoming Brighton, who impressed again in the Premier League today.
Goodbye!

What went wrong for City?It took 45 minutes for Man City to get going today. At that point, the game was all but over.
Their slow start has cost them a chance at the FA Cup final, but news that Kevin De Bruyne wasn't fit enough to come off the bench may rival that news in terms of worries for fans.
City will have to put this behind them and look ahead to Wednesday's game against Brighton at the Etihad, with the title race approaching crunch time.

Pep on the lack of changesIt does appear there was method behind the madness after all...
Guardiola on subs: "Riyad/Rodri were fit, the other ones had problems. Fernandinho was playing amazing, Bernardo as well, I think Gabriel & Raz playing good. Of course if we had scored the 3rd goal I’m pretty sure in ET we would have done it but we didn’t have many options."

Anfield South?Wembley has hardly been Liverpool's second home over the last decade, but their certainly getting comfy in London this season.
3 - Liverpool have reached the League Cup and FA Cup final in the same season for a third time, after 2000-01 and 2011-12. They are the first side to ever achieve this in as many as three separate seasons. Treble. pic.twitter.com/yfAK6rCuqe

Klopp: "The first half was one of the best we ever played"Speaking to BBC, Jurgen Klopp said:
"The first half was one of the best we ever played.
"The quality of City is insane. It's so difficult to win against them.
"It's not a statement. City knew it could be difficult against us.
"I can't believe quadruple talks."

Van Dijk: "Perfect first half"Speaking to BBC, Virgil Van Dijk said:
"We made it very difficult for ourselves in the end"
"We are very happy to go to the final"
"It was intense. If I'm thinking back now we should've killed the game off"
"We haven't won anything at the moment. As a group it's the only trophy we haven't won."

Liverpool's first half just too muchMan City simply didn't turn up until half-time today, and that's what's cost them another date at Wembley.
Sadio Mane's brace - one brilliant and one bizarre - added to a Ibrahima Konate header to put Liverpool in what turned out to be an uncatchable position at half-time.
Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva both added left-footed goals but it wasn't enough, as it's Liverpool who'll await the winners of Chelsea and Crystal Palace tomorrow.

It's all over!Wow. Out of nothing this game became extremely exciting again, but Liverpool hold on!
The Reds were sensational in the first half and raced into a three goal lead thanks to Sadio Mane and Ibrahima Konate.
Jack Grealish got one back just after half-time, and Bernardo Silva added another with minutes to go, but it was too much for Pep Guardiola's men to bring back.

Huge chance for Sterling93' City 2-3 Liverpool
A succession of Liverpool corners eventually allows Sterling the space to get a shot off, but it's comfortable for Alisson.
Was that the chance?

GOAL! Siva gets another for City!91' City 2-3 Liverpool
Just too good from Mahrez who absolutely burns past Robertson.
He has no options so elects to shoot from a tight angle, but Silva is on hand to smash home a rebound.
Four minutes of added time. Surely not...

Time running out for City90' City 1-3 Liverpool
Still absolutely no way through for City, and if anything it looks like Liverpool might score next.
Salah has terrorised Zinchenko all day today, and again Ake helps him out before the Egyptian can get a shot off.

Liverpool ring the changes87' City 1-3 Liverpool
Thiago and Mane in particular are given heroes receptions as they're replaced late in this one.
They've both been excellent today.
April 16, 2022 at 12:12 PM EDT
City finally show their hand84' City 1-3 Liverpool
Jesus does well to win a free-kick, and that's his last involvement of the day, as he's replaced by Mahrez. Still no De Bruyne.
The Algerian's first involvement is dummying a free-kick, but Sterling's effort is way off the mark.

Frustrations building for City82' City 1-3 Liverpool
No way through at all for City since their goal, and all credit to Liverpool for that.
The Reds are looking like becoming FA Cup finalists for the first time since 2012.
April 16, 2022 at 12:07 PM EDT
Still no changes from Pep78' City 1-3 Liverpool
No changes yet from Pep, including that of Kevin De Bruyne.
There must be some reasoning behind it. Although I couldn't tell you what it is.

Huge 15 minutes in this rivalry76' City 1-3 Liverpool
While a place in the FA Cup final may not be at the top of these teams' agendas, how much of a psychological blow could this game dish out?
April 16, 2022 at 12:01 PM EDT
Zinchenko almost punished73' City 1-3 Liverpool
Zinchenko tries to head back to his goalkeeper but there is no where near enough on it, with Salah being presented a golden chance to kill the game.
Earlier this season, that may well have been 4-1. Today, it's side netting.
April 16, 2022 at 12:00 PM EDT
Brilliant from Alisson71' City 1-3 Liverpool
A fantastic save from Alisson denies Jesus!
The forward was clean through in the left channel but his countryman was equal to the effort.
What a huge moment that could be.
April 16, 2022 at 11:55 AM EDT
Brilliant from Ake67' City 1-3 Liverpool
Ake does superbly to deny Salah and concede the corner.
Alexander-Arnold takes his first of the day, but showcases potentially why Robertson has been assigned them so far, completely missing the penalty area.
