Four!! Short and wide from Rehan outside leg, Jadeja pulls it behind square for an easy boundary. Five runs from the over and that will be Tea on Day 2.

Rehan Ahmed back into the attack. Appeals for LBW off the last ball of the over but only Rehan seemed interested. Maiden over.

Root again. LBW shout against Bharat this time but a clear inside edge onto the front pad. Two maidens on the trot.

Wood continues. Is managing to get a bit of reverse now with the old ball but not enough to trouble the batters.

Root into his tenth over. Concedes a single off the last ball of the over. 

Another over from Wood safely played out by the batters. Root follows him into the attack. Jadeja goes for the attacking shot against Root, gets an edge but it falls short of backward point. England celebrate after a bat-pad from Bharat. Umpire says no and England is out of reviews.

Wood returns for a spell. Keeping it full to Jadeja who defends with the full face of the bat. Appeals for LBW as Jadeja is rapped on the pads but was probably going down leg.

Leach from the other end. Just a single from the over.

Jadeja continues to attack the left-arm spinners, using his feet well. Rahul is gone! He falls for 86. Short ball and Rahul pulls it straight to deep midwicket. The ball was there to be hit but Rahul isn’t able to hit it well enough.

KS Bharat at number seven. Just a single from two overs. 

Now Hartley is back. India takes out five runs in his over including a four. A regular occurring today. Spinners unable to hold either of the two ends so far. 

Jadeja and Rahul have very easily added fifty runs in this partnership. Not much trouble out there apart from the odd ball. Both playing with attacking intent. Lead 30 runs now. 

Jadeja launches Leach for a six over midwicket, coming down the track but on the next ball, has been given out caught at short leg. Jadeja reviews it straightaway. Not Out! Nothing on the ultraedge and it was no way an LBW as per the ball tracking. 

Rehan Ahmed continues to bowl half-trackers and Indian batters make merry of it. Root has been the best spinner for England so far in this game. 

Joe Root in for his third spell of the day with Jadeja’s presence at the crease. But Rahul at the other end is making full use of Rehan’s mistakes of bowling short balls. India takes the lead with a SIX! 

Jadeja has opened his account and Rahul looks at complete ease, hitting two fours in the Rehan Ahmed over. 

England begins the session well again! Shreyas Iyer brings out the big shot off Rehan Ahmed but finds the fielder in the deep. Overpitched on the stumps and Shreyas slogged it straight to deep midwicket. He goes for 35. 

Ravindra Jadeja in at number six. 

Jack Leach from the other end. Just a single in that over.

Welcome back to the afternoon session of day 2. KL Rahul has gone past his fifty and Shreyas Iyer on the other end is too playing freely. The duo has added 63 runs in 91 balls so far for this fourth wicket stand. India trails by 24 runs. 

England got Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill out early in the morning session but hasn’t looked threatening enough. Will the pitch spin in favour of England bowlers now?

Root again. On the pads, Rahul turns it leg-side for a single. Five runs from the over and Lunch has been called.

Joe Root returns for a spell. Full toss outside off, punched to deep cover for a single. Four!! Short and slightly wide, Shreyas punches off the backfoot past mid off for a boundary. A single brings up Rahul’s fifty. Good knock so far. Will look to continue on in the same vein.

Rehan continues. Four!! Slightly overpitched from Rehan, Shreyas punches it straight down the ground for another boundary.

Both spinners continue to bowl good lines. The batters though are manoeuvring the ball into the gaps to keep the runs ticking. 

Hartley replaces Wood. A change of ends for the left-arm spinner. Bowls one short and wide as Rahul punches off the backfoot. There is a fielder in the deep so only a single. Rehan continues. Shreyas punches a full ball square on the offside for a couple to bring up India’s 200. 

Wood’s over is dealt with again. Rehan replaces Hartley at the other end. Four!! Rehan drops one short after four good balls. Shreyas pulls it through the leg side for a boundary.

Another testing over from Wood. Just two runs from it. Six!! Shreyas breaks the shackles with a pull shot over midwicket against Hartley. 

Rahul gets a single off the first ball. Shreyas faces Wood for the first time today. Two fielders at the boundary leg side. Wood bowls length and beats the outside edge of Shreyas’ bat. Goes short third ball, Shreyas sways away. Tight over from Hartley to follow.

Iyer in, and fast bowler Mark Wood is brought into the attack. But it is Rahul who will first face him, and he gets a boundary off an inside edge. On the next ball though, Rahul hits a backfoot punch past point to get another four. And another boundary! This time a short ball and Rahul guides it very fine for four. 

Gill tries to break the shackles, goes for a shot but hits it straight to short midwicket. A full might have prompted him to for that shot. Maiden wicket for Hartley. India loses third wicket. Gill falls for 23. 

Shreyas Iyer in at number five. 

Both Rahul and Gill haven’t been threatened a lot so far. There were a few plays and misses but mostly off Root’s bowling. Hartley and Leach have been consistent with line and lengths but not much threatening. 

Jack Leach is into the attack now. Rahul and Gill take out seven runs off his first over including a boundary. 

Both batters are now looking to rotate the strike. Gill has been solid with his defence while Rahul is making sure the scoreboard is ticking. 

Gill and Rahul have got a few balls to open their arms now. Rahul hit two back-to-back boundaries towards long on off Tom Hartley. Not much spin out there and the batters are trusting the defence. 

England bowlers are right on the money early in the day. Attacking the stumps on good lengths. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are happy to defend pressing forward. 

Tom Hartley from the other end. He has got his line and length right today. A decent first over for him. 

Jaiswal comes down the track and hits it over Root’s head for a four. A great start to the day for the youngster. But not for too long! Jaiswal hits the fourth ball of the day straight back to Root. India loses a wicket very early in the day. Jaiswal goes for 80. 

KL Rahul walks in at number four. Eventful first over of the day. 

England is starting with Joe Root. Yashasvi Jaiswal at the strike.

In reply, Indian openers Rohit Sharma (24 off 27 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (76 not out off 70 balls) blazed away, with the southpaw smashing a brilliant unbeaten half-century as India finished the day on 119/1 in 23 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
