FC Barcelona and the player, Pedro González “Pedri”, have agreed a contact renewal and he is set to stay with the Club until 30 June 2030.
The blaugrana midfielder signed his new contract today in the presence of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafa Yuste, and the Club's director of football Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.
Bright future ahead, excelling right now
The Canary Islander finally arrived in Barcelona almost five years ago now after spending a season on loan to Las Palmas after signing for the Club in 2019. He returned to Barça in summer 2020 and it was clear he was a special player from day one. He claimed a spot in midfield aged just 17 years old and is a permanent fixture now aged 22.
Pedri may still be a young player, and although his future is bright, his present is simply outstanding. This season has seem him add regular playing time to his excellent play, helped by a long injury-free period, which has established him as one of the world's best midfielders. The Canary Islander has become a driving force behind a team with a fast and intense playing style, with risks regularly being taken on knowing that he provides assurance when the ball is at his feet.
Clearly ensuring he remains at the Club was one of the priorities, as it was for him too. He grew up in the Canary Islands as a big fan of the FC Barcelona playing style and is now fulfilling his dream. A dream that is set to continue for at least another five years.
