PETALING JAYA: Commuters travelling to and from Batu Caves KTM Komuter station can get free rides on Feb 10 and 11 in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said all trips within the Klang Valley to and from Batu Caves would be free of charge for 48 hours starting at midnight on Feb 10.

“Commuters can use cashless payment methods via applications such as KTMB Mobile, Komuter Link card, Touch 'n Go card, or debit or credit cards, where the charges will be waived upon checkout.

“Physical tickets with a QR code can also be purchased at the counters for free on the two days,” he said.

Loke also said that KTM Komuter would operate 24 hours daily for four days from Feb 9 to 12.

“During this period, senior citizens, the disabled, and children between two and six years old will receive a 50% discount, while children under two can travel for free.

“We expect around 500,000 commuters to use KTM Komuter services this Thaipusam period, a 10% increase from last year,” he said at a press conference held at Batu Caves on Tuesday (Feb 4).
