Razer Barracuda X Chroma: New SmartSwitch Dual Wireless headphones with active RGB cups
Razer touts its latest headset as the best multi-platform gaming life accessory of its line to date, and not merely due to its series-first six-zone Chroma lighting. It can also connect to 2 wireless devices at once, so as to be able to take calls while gaming (or possibly vice-versa). The Barracuda X Chroma is also touted as a "multi-day use" set of headphones with an ergonomic, lightweight build.
The latest member of the Barracuda series is the first of the line to come with active RGB-accented earcups that can sync to the audio of "over 300 games" - which could be for either console or PC thanks to the headphones' support for Razer's SmartSwitch Dual Wireless technology.
Accordingly, a player can strike a balance between gaming and the rest of their lives by staying connected to their Bluetooth smartphone while focused a second device that can use Razer's HyperSpeed 2.4GHz wireless via the same headset. The new version of the Barracuda X has the same 40mm TriForce drivers and a detachable Razer HyperClear cardioid mic.
The headset is also backed to deliver "All-Day Comfort" with a total mass of 285g. The original X was 250g - however, the new Chroma edition is also rated for up to 70 hours of battery life (albeit without its RGB and Bluetooth on) compared to 50 in its multi-platform predecessor.
The Barracuda X Chroma is priced at $129.99 via either Razer or Amazon. Potential buyers can go for it in black right now, or hold out until the last quarter of 2024 for the white version.
