The doctor claimed that consumption of raw milk can lead to several fatal diseases, cause seizures and even death.
While milk is celebrated for its many health benefits, consuming it in its raw form poses potential health risks. Recently, a Kerala-borne hepatologist highlighted the serious infections that may be caused by the consumption of raw milk. He shared that raw milk can contain dangerous bacteria such as E. coli, Campylobacter, Yersinia, Brucella, Coxiella and Listeria. The doctor while emphasising that “Pasteurization was discovered for a reason", claimed that these bacteria can lead to several fatal diseases that can attack the “brain and heart, cause seizures and even death". The doctor’s post has sparked a heated debate on the effects of raw milk among social media users, garnering thousands of reactions.
Sharing a video from Punjab (as claimed) of a woman giving raw milk from a bucket to a child, the doctor wrote, “Sincere request. Please do not drink and do not feed your kids raw milk. This looks and sounds cool because it feels like you are doing it the natural way like our ancestors did and all, but remember that our ancestors lived a very long life of 25-30 years, mostly."

He also provided advisories released by the New York State Department of Health and Food and Drug Administration along with the post. In the document, the FDA explained that germs in raw milk can especially affect people with weak immunity such as transplant patients, individuals with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and diabetes, children, the elderly and pregnant women.
The post has gained the attention of social media users. While some opened up with questions on the consumption of milk in its various forms, some negated the dangers entirely.
