Once again, England started the day on top. Root clinched the prize scalp of centurion Ravindra Jadeja with an easy return catch. But debutant Dhruv Jurel and R. Ashwin ensured that India didn’t fold easily. The duo saw out the early movement from Anderson and played the English spinners with ease. Hartley bowled an accurate, miserly spell from the other end. A talking point of the session though was the five penalty runs India incurred courtesy of Ashwin running on the protected area of the pitch.
