There are few managers more animated on the touchline than Mikel Arteta, but the Arsenal players will not have the instructions of their boss on the touchline this afternoon when Man City visit the Emirates.
The Spaniard has tested positive for Covid-19, meaning he will be forced to watch the action from home.
In his absence, the Gunners will be looking to keep a good run of form going, that has seen them enter 2022 in the top four. The next challenge for Arsenal is to produce against the very best sides though, something they have not done this season, and the test posed for City is a serious one.
Pep Guardiola’s side have cruised into an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, winning their last ten matches in the league. They have dominated recent games against Arsenal, and will fancy their chances of doing so again.

On Silva penalty: “I have no doubt it was a penalty. First of all I didn’t know if there was contact, but I got close enough to the screen and for me it’s a clear penalty.”
On Odegaard incident: “Honestly I don’t know, I didn’t watch that on the screen.”
“They’re an unbelievable team, they showed why they’re in this position. The work they’ve done with Mikel is massive. We know also they’ve rested more than us, they had six days to prepare, we had three games in one week. It’s tough.
“We struggled in the first half, but controlled it a little bit more in the second half. Sometimes it’s like this - the other team also plays. They did a great game, but fortunately we showed our champions’ personality to go again.”
City are now 11 points clear at the top of the table, before Chelsea face Liverpool tomorrow. Safe to say they’re very much in pole position for another title.
For Arsenal, they’re in fourth and four points clear of West Ham. But David Moyes’ side can close that gap when they face Crystal Palace later today.
Arsenal 1-2 Man City
An absolutely breathless 90 minutes, and it ends with City making it 11 Premier League wins in a row. They really had to work for this one.
Saka put Arsenal in front in the first-half, but City scored twice after the break... either side of Gabriel’s red-card.
The Gunners can take plenty from their performance, but it’s a painful defeat after they display they produced.
90+5 mins: Can Arsenal do anything in the final minute of stoppage time? Silva booked for kicking the ball away.
Doesn’t look like the Gunners will have time to do anything about Rodri’s late strike.
CITY HAVE WON IT!
Arsenal’s efforts are in vain, as Man City steal it right at the death. De Bruyne lifts one over the top, Holding’s header can only flick it on.
Shot is blocked but it falls into the path of Rodri, and he poked past Ramsdale!
90+2 mins: Tierney thinks he can pounce on a loose ball, but Cancelo gets there first and the left-back brings him down. City free-kick.
De Bruyne pulls it back to the edge of the box... Cancelo’s shot is blocked by Partey.
90 mins: Smith Rowe puts pressure on Ake and he wins a corner for the Gunners. This is a rare chance for them to get men forward.
Poor ball from Smith Rowe though and it’s easily cleared. Six minutes of added time...
88 mins: Ramsdale drops the ball under pressure from Dias, but the offside flag is up so no damage done for Arsenal.
The goalkeeper goes down too... looks like he’s hurt his eye and might need some treatment.
