AFC Champions League Two Knockout Stage information
A few things have changed as we head into the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League Two with the introduction of VAR being one

As we head into the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League Two, a few things have changed from the Group Stage section.

In the knockout stage, all matches will be two legged ties with the winner being determined on aggregate across both matches.

THE AWAY GOALS RULE WILL NOT BE IN PLAY THROUGHOUT THE KNOCKOUT STAGES.

Should both teams be tied at the end of the second leg on aggregate, two 15 minute periods of extra time will be played. Should both teams still remain tied, a penalty shootout will occur, deciding the winner.

Sydney FC were knocked out on the Away Goals rule in the 2016 edition of the competition

Also, VAR will now be in use for the remainder of the tournament with this previously only standing for the AFC Champions League Elite.

Now all decisions will be reviewed by a team of VAR officials and the pitch side monitor used if necessary.

Should Sydney FC be successful in this tie, they will play the winners of the Round of 16 match-up 7 which is between Port FC (Thailand) & Joenbuk Hyundai Motors (Korea Republic) with the Sky Blues hosting the second leg at home and travelling for the first one.

With the competition alternating the venue for the final of the AFC Champions League Two between the East and the West each year, for the 2024/25 edition, the host team will be that from the East region.

This means that the team that qualifies for the final from the East region will host the final at their home stadium.
